Author Pet Of The Month
Jodi Gibson

Jodi Gibsons with dog Florence

Our featured author+pet for August is Jodi Gibson. Jodi is an Australian author, writing mentor and podcaster. She writes contemporary women’s fiction and crime/suspense.
I loved Jodi’s last book, The Five Year Plan especially because it was set in Italy, there was a lot of food involved, as well as a romance and great character journey, and did I mention it was set in Italy (with a little bit of Melbourne as well). I’m really looking forward to Jodie’s upcoming release, REINVENTING EMILY BROWN, on pre-order now for September 2023 release. You can find Jodi at JFGibson.com.au, on her weekly ASK THE AUTHOR PODCAST or hanging out on Instagram @jfgibsonwriter
Here is Jodie with her gorgeous golden retriever puppy Florence. (I’m sensing an Italian theme)

AUTHOR PET QUESTIONS

Part 1. The Fast Five.

Q1. Serial pet monogamist? Or ménage a pet?
Definitely ménage a pet. The more the merrier, right?
Q2. Set the scene. – where do you hang out with your pet/s?
My home office. Sonny the ragdoll cat hangs out on his hammock on the window, Banjo the border collie splays out on the floor, while the newest member of our family Florence the golden retriever is usually curled up under my desk chewing on something.
Q3. Pet character profile
Banjo: Rambunctious, energetic, loyal
Sonny: Arrogant, social, beautiful and gives the best early morning snuggles
Florence: Happy, cute, into everything
Q4. Muse, distraction, or disruptor?
All of the above!
Sonny loves to disrupt my day by jumping on my bookshelf and knocking off books to let me know he’s hungry.
Q5. Best pet in a book?
Oh, that’s a hard one. I was a huge Garfield comic fan growing up, so let’s go with that.

Part 2. Now we’re talking, or panting, or purring…

Questions for both author and pet. Please answer in alternating POV, ie provide the pet’s answers about you and your answers about your pet.

1. Favourite treat.
Mum’s favourite treat is chocolate, I’d love her to share but she says it’s bad for me.
It would have to be cheese for all three!
2. Their Worst habit.
Getting stuck to the chair in the office and forgetting about play/feed/walk times
Sonny’s is knocking the books off my shelf, Banjo’s is his ball obsession and Florence’s is stealing socks.
3. Their best quality
She gives good cuddles and pats
Cuddles, licks and snuggles.
4. Bedroom truths. Eg. On the bed, under the bed, next to the bed, closed bedroom door. 3 in the bed. ????
Dogs are outside and Sonny rules the bed!
